Pennsylvania Sweepstake Casinos
Sweepstake casinos Pennsylvania are in Limbo after the PGCB, The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, issued a notice to 18 active sweepstake operators.

In April 2025, those in question were issued a cease-and-desist letter for their operations in Pennsylvania. Many operators have already ended their offering to residents, and ceased business. PGCB spokespersons consider sweepstake casinos as illegal and have taken a stronger stance to enforce the announcement.

Is Sports Betting legal in Pennsylvania?
Sports betting in Pennsylvania is legal and regulated by the PGCB, The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board since 2017, under House Bill 271. To apply for a licence to run a retail and mobile sports betting operations, a brand has to apply for a Sports wagering certificate from the PGCB itself, and pay a hefty USD$10 million licensing fee. Taxes are at 36% pretty high, which is a main reason, why only a dozen brands have the license.
But there are restrictions. Pennsylvania does NOT allow High School Betting, so do other US States by the way. The same applies for College sport events on Home soil.
One restriction stands out from the rest, which is betting on politics. This is a no go in Pennsylvania.
eSport Betting for now is also excluded under the law and authority of PGCB.
